#DietStartsMonday

I am writing this because I get asked about nutrition a lot and I don’t like to talk about it too much because everyone makes it way harder than it needs to be.

Believe me, I have been there before. I remember how college was, sitting on the couch eating cold pizza for breakfast from the day before (vegetable serving one of one for the day). Did you know my college had a milkshake machine that was a free option at every meal? I knew about it, we all knew about it. Did you know there was free ice cream next to the milk shakes? I was still trying to be healthy, I took my fish oil and amino acids every morning.

Maybe I needed to pay a little less attention to my fish oil pills and a little more attention to actually eating right. We get so caught up in the details of nutrition that we forget the basics. The hardest part of eating healthy isn’t knowing what to do, it’s actually doing it. I am going to go through my basic rules for nutrition and tell me if any of them shock you.

Sugar is bad

Artificial sweeteners are bad

Don’t drink soda

Drink water

Eat small portions

Eat Vegetables

Eat Fruit

Eat lean meat

Organic is best

Processed food is the worst

There you go, I am pretty sure I didn’t blow your mind with any of my basic nutrition rules. Make sure you are doing the basic things right before you start worrying about whether blueberry pie or cherry pie has more antioxidants. If you eat by those rules above for a majority of your meals, you will see positive changes in your health, weight, energy and more. You don’t have to wait for the right diet to come along, you already know what to do, the only thing left for you to do is do it.
